Chris Foss: A Legacy of Excellence in Surveying
Chris Foss has been a cornerstone of the surveying profession since 1985. After earning his license in 1993, Chris worked with John Ferguson, gaining invaluable experience and honing his skills. Their collaboration began in 1985, and for nearly a decade, Chris contributed to numerous successful projects under Ferguson’s mentorship.
In November 1994, Chris ventured out to start his own business while continuing to share an office with John Ferguson on Wallins Corners Road in Amsterdam. This arrangement allowed Chris to build his own client base while maintaining a strong professional connection with Ferguson.
In 1998, Chris temporarily closed his business to serve as the deputy city engineer for the City of Johnstown. In this role, he oversaw various municipal projects, bringing his expertise in land surveying to the city’s engineering department. By August 2001, Chris decided to return to full-time land surveying, establishing and managing the surveying department for Steven E. Smith, P.E., in Gloversville, NY.
The opportunity to re-associate with John Ferguson arose in April 2005. Recognizing their combined expertise and shared commitment to excellence, Chris and John formed the partnership of Ferguson & Foss. They opened their current office in Johnstown, providing top-notch surveying services to the community.
Chris, a resident of Caroga Lake, NY, is deeply involved in local community organizations. His commitment to the area extends beyond professional endeavors, demonstrating his dedication to both his work and his community.
