Our Rich History in Johnstown, NY
Located in historic Johnstown, NY, we’ve been a part of the community for many years. Chris Foss, one of our founders and principal surveyors, embarked on his surveying journey back in 1985. After working for John Ferguson for nearly a decade, Chris ventured to establish his own business in 1994. The pair maintained their friendship, however, sharing an office together on Wallins Corners Road in Amsterdam.
Chris’s commitment to service took a detour when he served as the deputy city engineer for the City of Johnstown in 1998. However, the call of land surveying beckoned once again in 2001. After establishing and leading the surveying department for Steven E. Smith, P.E. in Gloversville, NY, an opportunity presented itself in April 2005. Chris and John reunited, culminating in the partnership that is now Ferguson & Foss, and opening our current Johnstown office.
